Animation (After Effects)

As a graphic designer often briefed to work with writers and subject matter experts to create storyboards my experience frequently requires me to brief, and work with, animators who are then able to animate my stills and sequences (usually vector-based). However, this particular branch of my working life has veered onto an unexpected new avenue of personal development and I now find myself being quite the After Effects animator. I am not as fast as the professionals I have been fortunate enough to work with, and learn from, but I am staggered at what I am now able to achieve. Especially when pulling leverage from preset templates. Animation was one of the paths I’d envisioned for myself while at school so it’s a pleasing turn and being a hobbyist musician I see the parallels and how important timing is in the alchemy of animation and bringing visuals to life.
